THE ROLE

As the Senior Investment Accountant, you will support the Investment Finance function for the company’s investment vehicles and funds. In this role you will be responsible for financial reporting, full-cycle investment & corporate accounting, capital monitoring, and related treasury transactions for various funds. The role breakdown is as follows:
  • 50% Investment Accounting & Transaction Review
  • 35% Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • 15% Treasury Management & Investor Relations

THE TASK

Investment Accounting:
  • Record investment accounting transactions throughout an investment vertical, including multi-tiered funds.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages, including financial statements and supplemental reports.
  • Monitor capital balances to ensure the accuracy and completeness of investor-facing results.
  • Update proforma models with actual results and assist in the quarterly reforecast process.
Financial Reporting:
  • Oversee management accounting activities, like transaction analysis, key account reconciliations, month-end close, and working paper preparations.
  • Supervise the AP and AR associates, ensuring proper transaction coding, and prepare quarterly reports to the corporate controller, including variance analysis.
  • Handle year-end working paper preparations, oversee the external audit process, and manage all government and business-related remittances, including HST filings.
  • Monitor capital balances and ensure accuracy and completeness of investor-facing results.

  • Led the preparation of annual reporting packages for the assigned portfolio.
  • Managed external audit and tax compliance processes effectively.
  • Analyzed investment performance and provided insights for portfolio management.
  • Continued refining forecasting and investment analysis processes.

By Month 12:
  • Demonstrated expertise in both accounting and finance aspects of the role.
  • Developed enhanced financial reporting tools and models.
  • Drove continuous improvement in the investment accounting function.
  • Established strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the overall success of the investment portfolio.


THE SKILL SET
  • 3+ years of similar accounting experience is preferred.
  • CPA designation or near final stages of completion.
  • Experience working in a private equity, asset manager, or fund manager is ideal.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
