THE ROLE
A senior tax planning professional serving as a key individual contributor, driving tax strategy development and client relationship management across diverse business portfolios.
  • Client Relations & Business Development (40%)

THE TASKS
Client Relations & Business Development
  • Engage directly with clients to assess tax planning requirements and recommend tailored solutions
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with key decision-makers across multiple office locations
  • Deliver compelling tax planning presentations to secure new client partnerships
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify additional service opportunities
  • Represent the organization at client events and industry networking functions

Tax Strategy & Planning

  • Create sophisticated tax optimization strategies encompassing income distribution, entity restructuring, and business transition planning
  • Evaluate intricate tax scenarios and deliver creative compliance solutions
  • Oversee implementation of tax strategies while ensuring regulatory adherence and validate tax planning frameworks created by junior staff members

Team Development & Leadership

  • Guide and supervise tax professionals across various experience levels while facilitating coaching and professional development initiatives
  • Execute performance evaluations and establish development objectives for team members, partnering with leadership to ensure tax planning efforts support organizational goals

Professional Development & Industry Knowledge

  • Monitor evolving tax regulations and emerging industry developments while engaging in professional conferences, continuing education, and skills enhancement programs

By Month 1

  • Built strong working relationships with stakeholders across all office locations
  • Developed comprehensive understanding of current tax planning workflows and client portfolio
  • Mastered existing tax planning systems and methodological approaches

By Month 3

  • Drive successful completion of multiple client projects and generate new engagement opportunities
  • Create and deliver strategic tax planning recommendations to executive leadership
  • Recognize opportunities for service delivery optimization

By Month 6

  • Execute improvements to tax planning workflows and service methodologies
  • Showcase capability to deliver actionable tax insights supporting client business objectives
  • Solidify partnerships with priority clients and internal teams organization-wide

By Month 12

  • Achieve measurable growth in tax planning revenue and client acquisition
  • Deploy enhanced tax planning systems and resource improvements
  • Deliver strategic counsel resulting in improved client outcomes and organizational expansion
 
THE SKILL SET
  • 10+ years of experience in preferably public accounting
  • Strong proficiency in Canadian tax laws and regulations, particularly related to corporate and personal taxation
  • Completion of In-Depth Tax Course or equivalent
  • Completion of CPA designation
